Case Studies
Mothercare PLC
Mothercare PLC is beloved UK brand and the number one retailer for prams, pushchairs, car seats, baby clothes, maternity clothes, nursery furniture, toys & gifts across the UK and globally.
With the rise of online shopping and the shift away from high street stores, the company had undergone a major transformation and by 2023 wanted its Annual Report to reflect its new model.
Our challenge was to help the company articulate its best investment case; explain its new brand and franchise model to investors; work with its strong brand equity; and create a flow of information, including its global presence, new business model, strategy, and KPIs.
We created a confident, dynamic design to highlight the incredible progress the company had made and to breathe new life into the Report. Central to this was helping the company understand Best Practice in Reporting and new Regulatory requirements, particularly around ESG. We put its vision and purpose front and centre and created a new Business Model infographic to help convey its new approach, while using the company’s amazing product photography to underpin this new direction. We also created a timeline graphic underscoring its past as a beloved brand and emphasising its global presence. Risk and stakeholder sections were also addressed as well as marketplace commentary.
Overall, the new design direction presented a visually clean and contemporary layout that reflects a refreshed corporate identity and a progression from the past. Mothercare’s management team was delighted with the designs, help, and advice we provided and with the final Report itself.

The project
The project Mothercare PLC had successfully turned around its business model following a temporary Administration in November 2019 and navigating through Covid-19 in 2020 and 2021.
We had initially restructured its previous Report into a restrained black & white version in 2018, but in 2022 and 2023 the company wanted to put the past behind it.
